ESC for dual Speed 800 motors with 12v Lead Acid Battery
« on: December 29, 2023, 08:03:20 pm »

Hi all,

I'm building the Fleetscale 1/72 type 22 Frigate and need some help on the technical side...
I've got 2x MFA Torpedo 800 motors, and 2x 12v 7Ah lead acid batteries.

Any suggestions are very welcome for all the electonic considerations:
- ECS,
- Receiver/Transmitter,
- any anything else I may have forgotten!

Many thanks,
Simon

I run a pair of MFA torpedo 800 motors in a 1/48 scale Hms Mersey and a pair of torpedo 850 motors in a 6 foot steam gun boat.
Both boats run 12v7ah or bigger gel cell batteries and each motor has a Radiolink 9030 esc working on either a Y lead or tank steering from the handset.

Radio wise i use Futaba 14sg and have model memories so only purchase receivers for each boat

1:48th scale for my ships. Large enough to show gratuitous detail, small enough to stay married.

I have Dimension Engineering ESCs (specifically the Sabretooth line) in all my twin-screw boats and they peform beautifully.  The mixing function is adjustable and provides two different modes between stationary and moving ahead/astern.
