« on: January 15, 2024, 11:35:00 am »

Please use this post for 2024 Mayhem.
It's back.......Mayhem is now confirmed as 25/26 may 2024.
More info will be posted re camping and carparking.
We have toilets near the lake open and manned to prevent damage this year. Dedicated parking. As usual, there will be a tea tent, plus a bring and buy.

Due to the continued massive growth of the show, we've decided this year that we shall be reserving some spaces around the lake for various clubs, please see the map below.

Also new for this year, we'll be erecting a marquee over the permanant benches, which we'll be keeping clear for those who do not have a gazebo or need space to set up if not staying for the full duration.

There is plenty of room for everyone, and not reserving a space won't mean that you won't have somewhere to pitch up, but if you feel you'd like to reserve a spot for yourself or your club please contact me through PM or email.

How was it decided which clubs would get reserved space and which would take pot luck? The Peterborough club has supported this event since its inauguration and were never approached over this issue. Any way we'll be there again bright and early on the Saturday  :-))

There is no favouritism where clubs go. MHA were asked to ho at the far end due to the narrowness of the paths after last year. We have expanded into the amphitheater area for tea tent and traders, stevenage is the same place as last year due to ic demos. The seating area must remain clear with no clubs using it. Wicksteed club, the hosts, are near their new hut. Luton go where ever!!
All this is mainly due to safety after some issues arose around  certain areas being clogged.
Mayhem still remains a come and sail free event.

As mentioned in my post, there is no need to reserve a space as there is plenty of room for everyone. If you feel that you’d like to reserve a space for yourself or your club, please contact me through PM or email

Can ordinary modellers bring a boat along and get a chance to sail it?

Thanks for the clarification, see you there! I was hoping to make it last year, but my younger daughter decided that was the weekend she was getting married.

The two of them will be three by May! I think she suffered enough as a youngster being dragged to model boat shows to want to do it again!
