Hitec Sp2040R
« on: February 09, 2024, 05:33:20 am »

Hi Lads
I am repairing a large boat for a club mate, it has a Hitec SP2040-R which I have no specs on ??
The motor( Johnson HC970) runs on 6volt SLA and 7.2 volt Lipo batteries.
The prop is a brass 3 blade 60mm.

From the internet:

B.E.C. SYSTEM Working Voltage 5.0 V to 9.0 V Continuous Current Forward 20A Continuous Current Reverse 10A

If using Li-Po’s it will need some form of external low voltage alarm. A very early ESC that probably belongs in a museum  %)

On bottom of box the list of features , BEC system on off switchable, proportional reverse, reverse LED indicator max surge current forward 40A reverse 30A, max continuous current f 20A r15A , working voltage 5.0-9.0V, weight 2.6 oz.
I replaced a clone with a working esc about 3 decades ago. The spec seems identical and what you expect from the technology.
What you get is a bipolar transistor H-bridge with a reverse throttle possibly limited to 50% duty.
The 1 amp bec uses the printed circuit as a heatsink.
There should be an ntc thermistor bonded to the tab of a forward transistor bank.
It's a ~50Hz servo chip type which means not forgiving with a crackly 27MHz A.M. signal & throttle setting needs dialled right down for the 11ms frame of a Spektrum RC set.
