1/12th scale D-Class IB1
« on: February 12, 2024, 12:07:53 am »

I currently make a number of full sized D-Class parts for those lucky enough to own one of these vessels outside of RNLI service. This led me to think about scaling it all down.

So, the first foray into this was casually throwing the CAD model of the composite floor including the floor hinges on to 3D print,

Then I followed this up with transom and some smaller parts including the panels for the pod I've already had a few requests, so this may potentially go down the route of being a kit or semi kit yet 🙈

Hi Spongie, any progress on the D-Class?
Due to lack of space I'm working on a D-Class 1/20 - in parallel to many other things. So far I just have a hull to develope things/parts, as I have only photos (usually of fully equiped boats).

Looks good, If this could be made to be a working model I would be interested in one. Interested to see how the project progresses in any case!

Will go very slow. It's more in my mind than on the working table. Still looking for the real diameter/radius of the air tubes of the D-Class. Still have a package of TPU for printing but didn't use TPU before (the idea to use it for all the black extras on the tubes).
At the moment I have to get on with my Tyne and boathouse for the next exhibition.
Whenever I come up with something (kind of) final I'll also show it here, don't worry.
