Mtroics Speed Controllers
« on: October 18, 2024, 11:18:04 am »

Hi Guys

Going through a stage where I am buying quite a lot of speed controllers and tend to like the Mtronic's product, problem is they are a bit expensive, the company charges the earth in postage (and only sends 2nd class)  and is not particularly quick  at dispatch.

Wondered if anyone knows of an alternate reliable supplier that charges reasonable rates - I am currently looking to buy 8 and the cost is ridiculous.

Any help would be appreciated

Pat

I assume you have checked out Component Shop?

https://www.componentshop.co.uk/

Some people go down the cheap Chinese ESC route but the results can be  variable to say the least with unrealistic continuous current capacity figures being quoted and no after sales service.

As always, buyer beware! Mtronics and Component Shop are reputable suppliers with good after sales service. You get what you pay for.

Hi
Myself I can not get on with Mtronics ESC, so I now only use Hobbywing 10/60, yes I know that they are on the expenses side at £22.49 from Howes, but I have never burnt one out so far

That's all right, Mr Ryan. My Morse is so rusty, I could be sending him dimensions on Playmate of the Month.

Mtronics ESC's will operate 100% in either direction ( you need this on a Tug if you are towing/competing ) so I like them but obviously it is a personal choice. I found the 1060's which are designed for RC cars absolutely rubbish (just saying). For my next project which is twin screw I am going to try Component shop's P94 as I have always found their help and advice spot on. I really wish Mike Stothers would start making FR40's again, without question the best ESC's I have used and so easy to wire in and, importantly, understand.
      Regards everyone,
                 Cheers, Pete.  :-)) :-)) :-))

I would recommend Howes Models in Kidlington near Oxford. Web site at www.howesmodels.co.uk. Tele: 01865 848000.
They usually have large stocks and send the day you order.
Like everything in life, different folks like different ESC's (the Marmite analogy). All I can say is that I have built many scale models which have been seen at shows all over the UK and I've never had an Mtronics controller fail. Also they are doddle to set up. What's not to like!
Best regards
Steve Dean.
