HiTec radio binding
« on: November 11, 2024, 09:48:41 pm »

I've just bought a boat which has a HiTec Minima ST 6 ch receiver installed, but I don't have a HiTec transmitter of any sort.

Can I bind any 2.4 Ghz transmitter to this receiver or will it need a specific HiTec transmitter model?

It will need to be a Hitec transmitter as the transmitter coding is unique to the manufacturer. the old 27 and 40 MHz sets were often able to use various makes but when the 2.4 GHz sets came in the manufacturers decided to lock people into their own protocols. I have sets from 4 different makes, each will only work with their own brand of receivers. You might find one of the multi protocol transmitters can transmit in Hitec format as well as others such as Futaba and Spectrum, not having used any of them I don't know enough about them. (Basically they have managed to do enough reverse engineering of the protocols to allow them to be used without infringing copyright (or ignoring it))

Oh dear, thanks for that anyway.

As HiTec seem to be out of the transmitter business at present I may have to replace the receiver with one I already have, to match my transmitters.
