so this is my first model boat of any kind.   this kit seems to be out of production for at least 10 or 15 years so the recomended motor and universal seem to be unavailable as well.


I am wondering what size motor, ESC and batteries would go well with this.   


I am also wondering what i need to connect the motor to the shaft.  i have learned through a thread on here that the shaft and stuffing box that came with this kit is subpar but i am already beyond that phase, so i will be using what was supplied.

AFAIK the supplied shaft was intended for a Dumas dogbone and has the inboard end turned down to accept a 1/8th drive cup.  For a motor, I would say any outrunner that is around 40mm in diameter and 500kv (if using 14v) or 1000kv (if using 7.2v).


Note that Dumas dogbones are available in 1/8 and 3/16 bore, but most outrunners will have a 4 or 5mm shaft, so you'll need to drill and ream to size.  Thankfully they are made from a brass that machines nicely.
