Stav,
Sounds easier to change speed controller and use present one in next build, then get an ACTion sound unit.

Does your ESC have a relay (aka a thing that clicks when you put the motor into reverse), or is it one of the newer type?

Why do want "Steam Engine Sound"? Steam engines are almost silent when in motion.

Should work with relay-equipped ESC. Wanna try one? You've got my number..........except you've got weird electricity where you are; remember?

Hi Stavros.
As you may of already heard I am developing a new sound system. There will be a steam unit included. I am trying to get thees units ready as quickly as possable but still will take some time. You can't rush perfection.

Hi Stavros,
You could try http://www.jjc-electronics.com/
You can hear sound samples from this site.
They do a very good range of sounds including triple expansion/compound engines.  Mind you, if any of my ships engines had sounded like that I'd have been out of a job!! (knackered bottom end!)

The Maplin kit is OK but very weak unless you have an additional amplifier or a sound box - really aimed at the model train enthusiast - although it does sound a bit like a Weirs Feed Pump!

Several of the guys in my club swear by JJC.

Hope this helps,

Funny..........most of the people on this forum swear about it/him..........or have you a hot-line to Jim Casey, wherever he's holed up? I think we should be told  ;)

Don't know about whats going on with JJC but, based on kit bought about 6 months ago, not direct but from a shop, I'd have to say I have not had a problem.
I have never tried contacting him direct either in the past or recently so I have no idea what is going on.

Sounds like its a 'strike off' job ...
Shame really but sometimes it happens with small businesses, especially those that try to be innovative and over stretch themselves.
After all look what happened with The Prop Shop ............

Certainly if anyone knows anything more positive I and many others would appreciate hearing I'm sure, particularly since his web site is still active.
