Admiral
I have a Liz - a magical creature who can pack something in no time at all and even manage to get the thing collected and delivered next day when the rest of Nottingham is mired in a 24 hour postal strike. I just do the soldering.

i have too much time on my hands because i just did a quick look through the threads and so far the best service is ACTion, followed by Westbourne Models, Model Slipway, Deans Marine and George Turner.  a totally useless bit of information but it filled in a few minutes. :D

Not at all "useless". It may help many Members who have no experience of some of the great traders who service our hobby. For me, it is important that so many of the traders you mention and who provide great service are small businesses which maintain close, personal contact with modellers  .

I would add Model Slipway and my local hobby shop "Au Petit Prince" in Fontenay la Comte (more like a club house than a shop!).

I bought an RC Switch from Dave at action electronics on Saturday, at Llanberis... I gave him the money and he handed it over

Likewise, couplings from Mark / A Model World!

My first attempt at buying stuff "on-line".
"Gaugemaster" and "Model Mania" did exactly as promised, and so thumbs -up for them. BY.

After waiting in vain for two months for Modellers Mate to supply some plastic sections in 1 metre lengths, a call to 4D Modelshop saw them delivered in two days.   Go http://www.modelshop.co.uk/  I know who's getting my next order for these.

I've dealt with a number of suppliers in the past, most of them in the UK, and I have to say I've never had a bad experience. People such as Dave Milbourn (FLJ on this forum), Malcolm Reade, George Sitek, Westbourne Models, Redbank Models and Jackie and Lawrie White at Model Slipway have all given outstanding service. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending any of them.

I have also dealt frequently with Tower Hobbies in the USA and found them to be excellent, too.

I was under the impression that if the web adress ended with .co.uk then it was a uk company , if this is not the case then i will have to watch out when i search for stuff on the net , i tend to search for uk when i use google .

Like portsideII I thought that any web address ending in .co.uk was a UK company so, having nothing better to do  :-) , I looked them up.

crazycameras is a UK company, but their web site states:-

"To minimize our cost, we have hosted our distribution facilities in the United States.  We can quickly source our products from around the globe and post them to the UK."

So you are actually dealing with a UK based company.

the thing is are you getting a product that is produced for the UK or the USA market as sometimes warranties are very difficult on items not bought in the UK they are sometimes different specifications as well

Obviously Dave at ACTion is not phased by the PO strikes.

He despatched the members of his P family (P94 etc) for my Al Khubar yesterday at 4.20pm and it they arrived today at 12.30pm. :-))

Apologies to your wife Dave, I did it again. :embarrassed:

I ordered some things from Cornwall Model Boats on 30th November, the parcel was posted on 1st December and arrived on my doorstep here in Australia on 8th December.

How's that for service?  :-)) :-))
