I like the Solent Area Live Ship Positions.
Shows, what type of vessel (by colour), name (hover on shape) , plus detailed info on vessel, journey, position, (Click on shape)
and is updated every 60 secs.

Thanks for both of the sites - it should be possible to work them in conjunction. In theory I should be able to spot something of interest and have plenty of time to jump in the car and nip down to see it
