Has any one seen these
« on: November 18, 2007, 02:40:37 pm »

Hi All
Went to the International last weekend and saw these, very interesting. I understand they can manoeuvre like an aircraft but underwater. Anyone know any other details? Did not get chance to talk to anybody on the stand.

Regards Eric.

Hi Subculture
Thanks for the link, very interesting reading. Do you think this kit may be worth checking out when it comes on the market? I quite like the idea of sub racing or underwater acrobatic competions. I also like the idea that you can modify it to your own tastes/ requirements ( racer/scale). Has anybody else who has viewed this topic have any thoughts they may wish to express, I would be grateful to hear from you, before I buy one.

Regards Eric.

I think it would make for a reasonably starightforward build.

The watertight box isn't as good as a cylinder IMO, and I would seek to modify this. However it will be fine provided you don't want to go too deep.

It's unclear at this stage how complete a kit will be, or pricing.

Hi All
Time to confess. I posted this thread under the name of fastcraft to see what genuine responce there would be to this model. Thank you subculture for your input. There are few production issues to sort out, should be available early new year. One quick question to you all out there is What type of instructions do you prefer? Just diagrams? More text than diagrams? or an even amount between both? This is your chance to influence how you receive the info you need. All input will greatly be appreciated

Regards Rob.

Decide which "LEVEL" of modeller your aiming at, and be honest with yourself, write what you THINK will be comprehensive, and then send a pre-production unit out to someone of that ability to build and ask them to comment. It's impossible to try to do it all in house.
And watch out for all the ME PLEASE hands going up. ::)

Pictures paint a thousand words, so lots of images.

Personally for me a set of mouldings is sufficient, but for a beginner, you can probably never give enough advice. My advice is to spec one set of equipment and configuration and show that. If people want to deviate from that, they do so at their own risk.

You coluld supply instructions on a CD-ROM, and make available a printed copy on request.

Hi All
Thanks for your input. I have listened and have started the instructions with a heavy bias towards diagrams. A step by step photographic cd rom will also be included. Thanks again

Hi Andy
Thanks for the enquiry. ;D Yep it has gone a bit quiet to much work to do :(. As for the sub I'm still testing, I want it to do what it says on the tin. If you know what I mean. O0

I've never liked submarines. What goes up must come down but what goes down doesn't necessarily come up, so this is one Moderator who will be giving subs a miss!

I think moderators may be open to bribes - some of the plebs should get a test sample.  ;D

When I was working I was offered bribes which ranged from a bunch of bananas (he clearly thought I was cheap!) through a few thousand pounds, to a trip to Japan. As I told two of them as they went off to do time, "Why don't you guys offer me enough?".

Hi All
Thanks for keeping this topic going. :) Martin may I correct you.You saw the prototype Aquaflite's at Warwick and we had a good chat about them, thanks.  (checkout the shows section for more pictures) Thanks again Martin.
The next step in Aquaflite's development is I am in the process of getting the masters ready for vac forming, though I am planning to offer them Primarily as vac formed hulls, yet still offer fibre glass hulls so the customer has a choice to there preferred medium.

Regards Rob.

PS Martin Patience is a virtue O0

Vac forming is a good idea. IMO price needs to be about the cost of a HFM Deep dive VI if you want to sell in volume.

Thanks for asking. To answer yes. :-) Sorry it's been a bit slow %). After some extensive testing some minor niggles arose :((. So I am redeveloping the watertight compartment to make it  1. more userfriendly 2. Interchangeable with my other projects 3. To be available as a Seperate item for any one considering a small submarine build ;). In a nutshell it will be a cylinder with a tray for the servos etc. :-)). Hopefully it will available as a complete kit early in the new year. In the mean time I would be happy to sell the sub minus the watertight compartment now.

Cheers Rob.

Price?

And is it vac-formed or GRP?
