This will be the second on-the-water test to see how deep this Maya sits on the water after most of fittings is temporarily installed aboard the hull. The result is as seen below which water line is slightly below the planed draught line. O0
Judging from the result, final draught will be possibly slightly over the planed draught line due to the additional weight of paints and other stuffs to be added through the final assembly for a full completion.

Total weight up to this day was about 3.0 kg including a 3000mAh battery and about 300g ballast to balance the hull in pitching axis. Finally, she will perhaps get another 200g weight increase.... :(( <:( :-X  OH, my pity beauty suffering from weight increase by her own cosmetics to be used for beauty!!... {-) {-) {-)

Attention to my favorite lily watching down to my beauty in the pool in Pic Nr.1. %% :} ;)  Both were beautiful.!!! O0 O0 O0

I have come up to this level of work as of today.
The draught is so so and general fitting works are also so so.. What should I do next to build this sailing scale model ship except coloring work. ?? :embarrassed: %) ;)   But it's tooo hot even in Japan in recent days similar to Europe... {:-{ {:-{ {-)
November and December are normally the best season for model boating in Tokyo...3.5months left to go for the trial runs....

Hi all the model boaters,!
Are you taking an active part in the model boating of your own now under the hellish heat wave weather as in Japan.. ?? %) ;)
As for me, I got a new foldable dry dock pool for testing a model boat up to 160 cm at the longest as seen below.
About 200l of water will be required to float a model boat dependent upon the draught of boat which water supply cost may possibly around JPY18Yen(0.11USD).! :D :D  After the use of test, the water will be sprinkled over the plants by me in the garden in favor of my wife who is controlling the plants. %% %%

That being so, I just tested the pool as well as my JS Maya as seen below under hot temperature over 34degrees C in the morning. This size of pool will be so convenient to view a whole model easily and be able to check sufficiently if fore and aft balance of hull be achieved prior to final decision of draught line. O0   My JS Maya is 46.5" long and could be seen in full at nearly water line level to check overall hull. Set up time of pool itself is around 2 min before opening the water tap. :-))

It will possibly be about the time to make this stuff to hold the ship leaving the assembly stand having been used since last Feb, as I have lots of time before painting stage to be scheduled in coming august. O0 O0
I think pursuit to excessive detailing works will be endless in a sense, which work will be done even after the "full completion" with a successful trial run. O0 O0  In this sense, I have judged that I had better stop making a detailing work at present level, unless I do that I will not be able to go outing to the boating lake...within the year or more,,,!!!! This is a RC sailing scale model, not a RC static scale model.!! {-) {-) {:-{

The stand below is a display stand at the same time transportation stand with a sling to be stored in the aluminum pipe when not in use. :-))

Hi all,
How are you getting along with your hobby life in these days under extremely hot summer as seen even here in Japan too. ;D :embarrassed:
Today I got an unusual tool for painting, namely a spray can trigger as seen below which will be used in this autumn for my JS Maya for the first time. It might be useful and convenient for spraying the model without making a hand/fingers dirty.!! O0 :-))

"Keep a healthy life for restarting the building work in the autumn.!!!" from the crews :-))   {-)

Kiyo, that looks a nice tool for using spray cans.

Due to the heat over here my build is still on hold. I have put a bed into my workshop, as this is the coolest room in the house, situated in the cellar. First we had loads of pollen and then the heat, no chance to do the paint job properly <:(  In my region air condition is not common, but that will change for sure. Some of my mates already have installed it or are planning to do so. I will take that route as well. Daikin seems to be a quality make, produced in Japan ok2  We can buy that over here as well.

Hi Arno,
I'm so glad to have your always friendly comment.!! :-))
Unlike European countries, it's sooooo common to have air-conditioners in Japan and I'v heard that the penetration rate for it is about 94% over here. I am living in a 3 storied house where 7 air conditioners are installed. But I suppose normally one or two to each house may be possibly common in average across Japan. We, the Japanese haven't been possibly able to lead comfortable life without the air conditioners for many years up to the present, especially in the summer. >:-o >>:-( <:(
I was so much surprised to know by news that over 2300 people? died of hellish heat wave in France located in higher latitude than Japan... :((

Daikin is soo excellent brand here in Japan but a bit expensive. Hitachi, Mitsubishi (heavy industries) and Panasonic are also nice brands among which I have Mitsubishi and Panasonic ones in my house for about 30 years.

Thanks to the air conditioner, I have been enjoying a building work comfortably throughout a year except a painting work. %% :-))
PicNo2 shows 2 sets of outdoor machines of the air-conditioners.
Enjoy the air-conditioned life especially in the summer. :-)) :-))

Kiyo

Being so busy with many matters, Martin seems to have forgotten this topic completely due to no updates in the past 1.5months and thence I post some pics here to have him remembered again my current project.!!! {-) {-) {-)
May I remind you that the last pic here was not taken at our large boating lake, but in the Tokyo bay.!! {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)

Hi Akira,
Thank you for your comment. :-))
It has been rainy and cloudy here in Japan from early August by which I'm unable to paint my JS Atago and got greatly irritated by such offensive weather. >:-o <:( :-X %%

How unlucky I am and Japan is due to the worst record of rainy days to continue continuous 35 days since the weather observation started ca 150 years ago...!!!

By this offensive raining, I can do nothing only to wait for the fine days for painting job, while some areas of our country suffered the tremendous disasters like floods from the river as well as many landslides in mountainous areas.. >>:-( >>:-( <:( :-X
Building work has stopped as in the pics below. :-X
On the other hand, it seems that fine days may come in a week or so according to a certain news. :embarrassed:
I wish I could see my JS Maya sailing in the last pic below within this year, though it will be already winter with cold and rough wind at our boating lake.!!!!  :-X <:( {:-{ {-) :embarrassed:

It's past 7 months already since starting the build...

I have waited, waited and waited for 2.5months to find fine days for painting like Penelope in the Odyssey of Homer's epic poem
although she allegedly waited about 20 years for Ulysses, her husband. {-) :embarrassed: :o

The time seems to have come across over Japan with fine days to continue for a week or more......at last after 2.5months.. :-)) :-)) And I just covered the plants with film to get an instant painting space.
From tomorrow, building work is to restart with painting the hull...Wow.!!!! :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

The first job after restarting the building is, of course, painting. Basic color of the JS Maya is grey.
I applied 4 coats of grey spray to the hull sides and hull bottom in 4 hours today under a fine weather, a bit warm.
I'm so glad that the building job has started to go ahead for the trial run on the water. :-)) :-)) :-))

Hi Akira,
It's so nice to have your friendly comment.!! :-))
Spectacular sailing..  Yes,I do hope so like the pics below of JS Maya 1/1 and HMS Fencer 1/1 and my HMS Fencer ripping the wave sharply. {-) {-) {-) {-) Dynamic scale realism on the water is also important for a RC scale boat, isn't it??!!
A RC scale model boat had better run spectacularly on the water, needless to say. :-)) :-)) :-))

After drying the hull for one day, in the second place, main deck and 01deck were painted with 3 coats of grey spray.
Basic coloring finished by this job as far as the hull is concerned.  :-))

Job nicely done, Kiyo :-))  I am always a bit nervous doing the paint job as it might ruin the previous work. I am still waiting to paint my ASR boat, over here we now have rain after the former heatwave?..

Hi Arno,
I'm sooo glad to hear from you today after a long while since you last have had a post over here.!!!  %% %% %%

Yes, truly indeed for painting work which is soo delicate to do....!!!  {:-{ O0
I also have long waited recent fine season for a painting job close to 2.5 months by which I'm so pessimistic about completing this model by the end of November at the earliest.... <:( <:( <:( <:( <:(

From mid-December, provoking rough north-wind will possibly disturb largely my long-waited trial run on the water.... <:( <:( :-X
The next chance to do the run may be forced to postpone until March 2027..... <:( <:( >:-o >:-o >:-o

As the basic color of grey was painted successfully, next step to go is, needless to say, drawing the draught lines.
I did it so carefully as usual in this work especially because this is just a 3D model kit so that no exact information /material are available nor any official 3-dimentional illustrations at all..... {:-{ {:-{ {:-{ :-X :-X :-X :D

However, I could find a reasonable draught lines by on-the-water test of a tiny pool and many pics of real ship in some magazines. :-))

After drawing the draught lines, I covered the hull with thin film for architectural use as seen in the pics below.
And second color of red was applied with 4 coats and later will be overcoated in clear mat.
The hull is 3-tone color scheme and the rest is black. O0
