quick and simple tow line
« on: November 23, 2007, 11:47:16 pm »

Right as discussed on here before ,we all have our own ways of doing things and variety si the spice of life (so they keep telling me)
So you want to make a simple tow line for your tug ,or even a mooring rope for whatever vessel you sail
This is how i do mine .
Firstly pick the rope that is in scale for your boat, mine vary as i have different scale boats ,make a loop to the desired length .

Then slip a piece of shrink tube over the loop .

The next stage is to sew the ends of the rope together ,you can if you wish sew them together as far as the shrink tube its up to you.

Now that you have done your bit of needle work give the thread a dollop of super glue to keep it all together.

Slip the shrink tube over the joint make sure there is enough covering the end piece.

I used a heat gun but you can use whatever you have , remember if its an open flame take it steady

And there you have it ,all you have to do now is cut the rope to the length you want and repeat on the other end .

I like to build my boats to play with, not to just look pretty, so they dont !
