Hi John
It has been confirmed by Barrie Stevens that the Solar Challenge will again be at Alfold this year. There will be the same challenge as last year and I think a new challenge for drag boats. All should be revealed in the next edition of MMI along with the rest of the dates for the challenge.

Hi Alan ,
I attened the Alford show last year and was pleasantly suprised by what a freindly show it was and how much help I was given in setting up my boats on a spare table that was sorted out for me on the day. I also thought the comentary was great as not many shows have this now and it really adds to any event.

Keep up the good work.
Paul.

Hi ebayman
Glad you enjoyed the show last year, the commentary is done by a couple of the Southwater Dabblers members with the help of Commentary sheets we ask the exhibitors to fill in to assist us.

Hi Paul
We have trophies for 1st; 2nd and 3rd in the following catagories, Tugs; Warships; Scale; Scale Sail; Lifeboats and Novalties. We also have 1st and 2nd in Club 500 and finally Best in Show. I always try to find a knowledgeable judge and in the previous 11 years have had 9 different judges. The judges are told that they can judge as they wish, in other words if they like models because the are clean and tidy thats fine, if they want to be rivet counters that is also fine. Having done it this way we have spread the trophies a great deal, everyone seems happy, and most of them come back again the following year to try and win if they did not or win again if they did. It really does not seem to matter as at the end of the weekend we hope that everyone has had a good time and plenty of money has been made for charity.

Hi Dave
Providing you are there early enough to unload and have your car parked before 10.00am you will be able to bring your car into the display area. Cars will not be allowed into the display area until after 16-30pm to load up again because of the public still walking within the display area.
Hope this is clear.
