As Brian said, click on the modify button at the top right of your posting. It's only there for a short period after you have posted and then it disappears. It's a flaming nuisance.   >>:-(

Irksome, especially if you realise you need to re-tract or change something you said.
I think it is a result of the new fast edit feature,  which is like a little diamond and a pencil at lower right of post (until it times out).

Me thinks you can have the administrator edit it for you ? or remove it if necessary.

Yes that's the easiest / quickest way - just hit the [report to moderator] button at the bottom of the post with a note saying what you want changed and one of us will "come round and sort you out good and propper!"  O0

As a point of interest Martin, what does the little button next to "Report to Moderator" do - "Logged" but what, and where?
Thanks
Danny
I've never had the nerve to click it - you might come round and "sort ME out"  {-)

I am pretty sure that the system Martin is using logs all the IP addresses of the forum users when they post a thread. It is a way to track spammers and get them banned, and this is what that button does.

The reason for the timeout on editing is that it was found that "some" people were editing their original posts in response to subsequent replies which rather changes the meaning of what they had said  - "who, me Guv?" (naughty, naughty!)

The present 30 minute limit allows you to correct unnoticed spelling mistakes or make a change if you have immediate second thoughts. After that you can either post a subsequent correction or, as Martin says, ask your local friendly moderator to sort things out for you. We try to be fair to everyone.!
