Hi,
Well, quite a lot of fettling going on since last post. I ordered an esc from Action, arrived with the usual very speedy service (<24hrs). Wired it up and it wouldnt drive the two motors.
After testing and eliminating all other possibilities, I had to contact Dave who put me right straight away.
It was MY fault! Doh! In my ignorance I had bought 2 x 777 motors, which on having listened to advice aren't what I thought I was buying.
So, Dave very kindly made up an esc specially for me, tested it on two of his stock 540 motors, and sent it off as a direct swap for the origional esc. This was done delivered and arrived in 3 days - good service or what?
Bench tested myself - all ok.
Installed and tested - all ok.
test tank test - fuses blew!!!
I have wired a 10amp fuse between the esc and each motor, so that if one pops out on the water, the other should be able to drive me home, at the same time, the 20a rated esc cannot ever see more than 20a this way, so is protected.
measured the current on load at 9.5 amps on each motor, decided to drop the voltage from 8.4 to 7.2. Current now 7.5 amps on each motor - happy with that.
Only trouble is, those two 50mm korts damn near made the thing jump out of the bath!
Looks like fun ahead
