Best AA cells
« on: December 24, 2007, 07:48:30 pm »

The Gadget show on Channel 5 recently tested a number of popular AA sized disposable batteries to see which ones offered the best value for money. The batteries were placed in a toy dog then left to see how long they could keep it working. The results can be found on this link:

It looks like we should all be buying our AA cells from Morrisons.

Don't you use Metal Hydride rechargeable batts?I use the ones available from the Component shop,no connection but a satisfied customer,oh by the way they are the cheapest.

The gadget show test is unrepresentative for us generally as model boaters, because we have differing requirements.

In the main we require power (current delivery) over longevity - transmission losses, the lack of 'scalability' of water and weather.

On the larger sailing venues ABSOLUTE reliability is a major selling point.

I've got to agree with Stavros above, use NIMH rechargeables from the component shop - Llanberis proven and approved!

i ageree with stavros ,regarding rechargable batterys ,although i get mine from VAPEX (no connection just good value) aaa's and aa's good value inc delivery ,they also do c cells,d cells and racing packs ,i also believe they will make packs up for your requirements .and you can do it all from your chair over the net.
