Tx/Rx cell charging
« on: December 31, 2007, 02:50:58 am »

I've had a go with the search facility but I can't find any specific reference to the normal method of charging AA Ni-MH cells as used in Tx/Rx's. Am I OK to use the old charger that plugs straight into the transmitter and the receiver pack? It came with one of my radio sets and was designed for Ni-Cad's I suppose but I can find no info on it's suitability for Ni-MH's. :(
I suppose I'm asking what most of the experienced boaters use, any suggestions for a decent charger? Or am i OK with what I've already got?

Cheers, Andy

Andy, I have been using the chargers that came with my radios for both NiCd and NiMh batteries for quite a long time with no problems at all. Other people use dedicated chargers which enable them to cycle their batteries, but I have never worried about doing that, and I have never had a problem in over 20 years of flying and boating.

Thanks for setting my mind at rest Peter, I feel a lot happier about using my charger now.
Don, I'll be going through all the info on that site when I have time to relax (ie. get back to work) O0
Thanks both

My chargers for AA batteries have two settings, one for NiCad and one for NiMh.   O0
