HMS Illustrious...
« on: January 06, 2008, 05:06:42 pm »

Hi all,
I'm new to this site, infact its my first post haha  ::)
I'm currently building HMS Zulu the tribal class g.p frigate from Deans Marine...But, I'm looking into building a 1/96th model of the modern day Illustrious. I've seen 1 or 2 hulls around but can anyone help me as I'm looking fro somewhere/someone who could do some mouldings of the bridge/superstructure, funnels etc. And any fittings i may need etc. ??  ???
Thanks very much and i hope to speak soon! ;D
Adam.

Thanks guys, found some good information there. The only thing i'm concerned about now is the decks as i haven't scratch built any deck before, although I have contacted psships about this.
 Any suggestions perhaps?
Thanks again  ;D

Try contacting a guy called Sid Griffiths at sidofftl@aol.com
He's a friend of mine and is sec of The Surface Warships Association and has built a large carrier, I think it is Illustrious

Hi Adam,

I have a part built 1/96 scale model of the Harrier Carrier HMS ILLUSTRIOUS. The flight deck & superstructure have been built to a high standard. It has all the fittings packs, including the running gear set. Also I have all the Plans including the additional detail ones, dozens of high quality photos of all aspects of the ship & a couple of books on the type. Also has plenty of Sea Harrier FRS1's & a couple of Sea Kings. In fact everything you would need to build a Harrier Carrieras built. I had to intended to complete this model & not sell it as it, has set me back shed loads of cash. However other commitments mean I maybe tempted to sell on at the right price!! I have not decided on a price but will let it find its own level. I can be contacted at Gdsearch67@aol.com

                                   Regards

Hi guys,
not posted for quite some time, so just an update.
I have the plasticard now from evergreen, enough for what is needed. The hull should be here within the week coming and all i need is timbers. So as soon as i get some start to it i will post up some pics of the build.
 Cheers..Adam. 8)
