The Petit Julie lost

Another tragedy I am afraid. It would appear that the French fishing boat Petit Jule has been lost off the Cornish Coast. There were 7 crew aboard when she went down. Another sad day. My thoughts are with all concerned.

It just underlines what a dangerous occupation fishing is. The boat was based at Erqy in northern Brittany. We probably saw it when we visited the harbour on our overnight Xmas stock up trip to St Malo at the end of November. It isn't a big port, there will be a lot of sadness in the town today.

Tragic indeed, and our thoughts go out to the bereaved. All shipping losses are bad, but my ears always prick up when I hear about a trawler tha's missing, as my nephew owns two and skippers one of them.
