720 motor stand
« on: November 06, 2007, 11:07:32 pm »

hi all. Does any one know were i can get a motor stand for a 720 BB motor. Note the 720BB has a wider bearing house than the 700BB. I have look at the MFA 800 stand but the holes are all wrong. Thought about drill out a 540/550 motor stand but there not enough room as the 720 is a lot bigger. any help or ides would not go a miss cheers O0 john

I hope Martin wont mind but this is how he mouted a motor in a springer you could use ply wood instead of plastic for a plate.

You only need a junior hacksaw, a flat file and a couple of drills  O0

Saw this on Pandam models would this work, it is not bent so a wider motor would fit.

Motor mount for use with all 700 motors
Flat mounting plate that will accept any 700 motor inc. 785 motor. Can be drilled and bent to suit.

John,

Our very own Wingertaz aka Redbank models sold me one of these stands a few weeks ago. It perfectly fits the 720BB motor he also sold me

I tend to sit my motors on a bed and clamp them down with a strip metal strap shaped like a conduit fixing.  Advantage is that the fixing screws are pointing due upwards, so are much easier for access than the normal motor mount fixings.  Just have to make sure the fixings dont obstruct the air holes.
