Problems with Hitec Zebra 3 Ch gear
« on: January 26, 2008, 10:17:40 am »

Hoping that help is available.

Got a new Hitec Zebra 3 channel radio set, 6 channel small rx and 2 hitec servo's.  Got some bn duracell AA cells, 4 for the rx pack and 6 in the TX, connected the servo's and rx pack, switched rx on, servo's start twitching, switch on TX, servo's stop twitching but absolutely no control from TX all 3 channels!?!?!?!?!?!

Checked all connections, tried servo's in different order and on their own in all 3 channels on rx and still nothing.  Checked xtals, removed and refitted - still nothing.

Checked all reversing switched and mixer switch in TX, tried in all configurations and still nothing.

xtals are the same, batteries are good.

Help needed.....

Thanks in advance

Nick
Sorry if these suggestions seem obvious, but:
Is the Rx compatible with the Tx e.g. both 40 mHz FM single conversion?
Are the crystals compatible with this (e.g. not AM or dual conversion)
Make sure the Tx aerial is fully screwed into place
Make sure you have the Tx crystal in the Tx and not the wrong way round.
Unwind the receiver aerial wire fully and extend it away from the rest of the gear.
If you're standing close to the Rx with the Tx in your hands, leave the Tx aerial collapsed or you may "swamp" the Rx (but don't leave the Tx on for prolonged periods with the aerial down)
Always switch the Tx ON before the Rx, and OFF after switching off the Rx.
If you have access to another Hitech set, try the Rx and Tx from that set with the Rx and Tx from the Zebra.

If all this fails, send the set back to where you bought it and ask for a refund or a replacement. HiTech is a reputable make and there shouldn't be this sort of problem with them in general; you may just have a "Friday Afternoon" set.
Good luck

Hi Nick,

I had similiar problem with my Zebra 3. It worked ok for a while (a couple of weeks) but then refused to do anything.  Turned out that there was a problem with the tx. I seem to recall  that several members of another club also had same problem. Have you got another tx you can try ?

Terry.

Do you really mean a 3 Channel Tx and 6 Channel Rx? If so. have you tried the servos in all 6 slots on the Rx?
