A ? for all the skilled "tin bashers" out there:- How do you...
« on: January 28, 2008, 08:50:17 pm »

make a water cooling jacket, like the saddle tanks old steam engines had, to go over a Graupner 700 BB?
I thought an old bean tin, squashed up underneath, with ends soldered on, a bit like a hip flask, ... or some such..

Any ideas anyone?

Banjo- never use anything which is waterproof, but makes the water spoil around the motor directly. Have had a try once.... and flooded my CMB after 4 weeks......
A silicone-tube, winded around does a really perfect job- or Alloytube if you prefer.....

The problem is that cooling is a retro fit.   There is insufficient space 'tween the motor bottom and the motor mount to allow for, what would be my first choice, a wound water cooling coil.
Its the worst of two choices, the silicone jacket or the alli type.  I don't trust the silicone jacket so have gone for the aluminium sort.

Thanks both for the comments and advice
