Words and Sayings that I'm completely sick of...
« on: February 01, 2008, 03:46:26 pm »

"You are now approaching the landing level. Please take care."

(As if anyone on a flippin' escalator doesn't know it).

"Do you want fries with that?"

(Grant me the intelligence that if I'd wanted them, I'd've asked for them.)

"And now on <whatever channel> your chance to enjoy again...")

(Why not just call it a repeat?)

"Cool".....as an expresion of appreciation or pleasure, makes me hot!

"Gay"... used for homosexuality is an inappropriate use of a perfectly good and useful word meaning "bright, lively". The misuse of "gay" looks like actually removing its correct use from the language because folk tend to avoid using it in case they are misunderstood or made the butt of jokes.

"Poof"....which really means a stool or cushion on which to put your feet or to sit upon.

I'm not at all homophobic but I do object to the corruption of the English language.

"My bad" what does that mean?
The youth of today have over used the word "Like" example: I was like walking and I like turned to my friend and like talked to her and like we just like laughed.
I also hate "At the end of the day"

"Actually" (aka akcherly) = redundant 99.99% of the time. chef Garry Rhodes is one of the worst culprits in this regard and I constantly feel the need to throttle him  >:(  ........................... or switch channel

Reading through some of the above has actually made me realise what an actually intollerant grumpy old Victor Meldrew I actually am, maybe my missus has actually been right all this time. actually  {-)
