Dickie RTR tug thingy?
« on: February 05, 2008, 02:17:55 am »

Hi Everyone

Im going to buy a dickie rtr tug for my friend for his birthday which is comin up soon, and iv just got one or question about the little thing :)

I saw some years ago when it come out that it was priced at £100 RTR but from what i can tell that model came with a push stick controler, iv seen the dickie for sale now at £30 from howsmodels but from there it seems to have a diffrent controler i.e a wheel controler with a triger, are they the same tug but with a diffrent controlers? Or are other things diffrent about the tug as well?

Other things im not to sure about is the stock battery, can it be swoped with say a lead acid 6v 4amp battery but still run on the stock electrics? ( i know the stock gear will probs not be very good ) but im just thinkin if i could swop the battery with out changing anything it would be a good little start and give it some better run times

Also anything else to worry about or anything that would be good to know before buying and sailing this boat? Any help would be great full, iv seen most of the dickie builds on here so i know how they can look when totally moded :) but didnt see the answers to my questions

Any help would be great

All the best

Daniel

Hi there Daniel,

Im not sure if the standard electrics will run on 6volt as i ripped everything out at the beginning, but as for the battery if you need to put a 6 volt 4.5 amp lead acid inside the best way is to cut out the internal ballast tank so that you can sit the battery right in the base of the hull for stability, i also added a couple of stabilisers and it performs well in choppy waters and mine came with the steering wheel controller which was binned and replaced with a 6 channel set up.

Cheers

Hi Daniel

What you are on about has been done in the builds section of Mayhems Home Page.

The controllers are of the wheeled variety now. O0
