Nazi Emblem found on stern of capital ships
« on: February 14, 2008, 02:59:28 pm »

Hi all
Does anyone have any information or maybe photographs of the
bronze Eagle holding onto a swastika which I think was found on the stern of
larger German warships.
I believe one was removed from the wreck of the Graf Spee a while back
Regards

im pretty sure that in the Anatomy of the ship series, (to which janusz skulski's book in the IJN yamato was one of them), that one of the series covered a german capital ship.  That'll probably tell you what you need to know

Looking at that thing in colour makes one heck of an impression!!!

Hope the above link works for you. If not just google "Bismark Class", it is an awsome website about the heavy ships of the Kreigsmarine. Look also at this to see how graupner handled it-
