Lipo Brushless Manta
« on: February 17, 2008, 02:19:45 pm »

Got x2 20c 2200 lipo 3s
Tried 1 pak in my Manta this morning the results were unbelievable  :)
She was running on 18cell ninh before speed was very good for 10mins (ish)
Now jumps out of the water, lands and then shes so quick things get interesting so to speak  :o
So power to weight ratio very much better but she becomes Very unstable @ full chat.
I reckon i have pushed the hull has passed its limits now.
As for the lipos i have used them in helis & planes for some time so used thier ere funny ways !!
So a better hull ,trimtabs turn fins ect on same hull ?
I do not race this boat so have no need to comply with regs ect.
Shes just for high speed fun O0

Just got a secondhand Dateline Miami hull heard they are much more stable at speed than the manta.
So going to swop the running gear over.
Has anybody here had any dealings with this hull ?

I thing you really overpowered the manta with that brushless. The manufacture only says,

'The Manta can be used with electric or I.C. power. When using electric power this boat will give a good performance with a 700 BB turbo and 12 cells however you may also use brushless Motors, The boat will carry up to 20 cells. When using I.C. power Engines up to 2.5 CC are fine with under water drive. This boat has been run with surface drive successfully. The boat comes joined with a streamline top it is 690mm (27 inch) long and is of fibreglass construction.'

You are running it with twice the power.

I don't know much about this Miami as there is not any pics or info on the Dateline site. When you click the link it just loads the manta page.

I did find it seems fine for i.c z class also 700bb with 20cells sub or surface drive.
Spoke to Kelvin Bird (one of my many mentors ;)) & he seems to think it will handle the grunt fine.
While iam working on that i will just turn the wick down a little on the Manta e.s.c 25000 r.p.m limit (off load) not 55000 :o
