Springer testing facility
« on: February 21, 2008, 08:09:52 pm »

Had to make this after HHMBO caught me about to drill a hole in the end of the bath to attach a spring balance to test my springer  >>:-(

So what pull did you get?

I was at the pond last sun with a length of rope - you chickened out! O0

So did a bit of ice breaking instead.

I wont be there this week - work gets in the way!

no problem - tie the balance to the bath overflow outlet.

didn't chicken out Ian, had nowhere to attach the rope too, and apart from that I was told I wanted to go to Morecambe  :) but I have now fitted a rather robust bollard  :D so keep the rope handy.

The pull was 1.5kg before the back end buried itself.

Feel free to use my testing facility, the price is a can, but you get a free warm by the stove  O0

Never thought about the overflow, come to think of it I could have put a chain round the taps.   {-)

And before anyone says anything, no, the rotovator is not radio controlled, wish it was  :(

I think you are probably getting a false reading due to the prop wash having a 'harbour wall' to push against... thats NOT allowed when  the big boys do it...

Try it with a 6ft rope and see what figures you get...

At 1.5kg (3.3lb) pull, you still have a loooooong way to go to catch Mustang Sally... @ 2kg (4lb 4oz)

You would need a damned big bath for a six foot rope!!!! :D

All was going well, the tow rope was nice and tight, then it started to rain outside, the wife brought the washing in and hung it on the rope.   :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
The real test will be when boatmadman comes out of hiding and brings his Springer and rope to the pond  {-) {-) {-) {-)

Hiding? hmmmm - some of us have to work for a living!

I might be there on sunday - might being the operative word - it depends on how bad the hangover is. My eldest son just got engaged so we are having a party sat night. O0
