Servo mod
« on: March 10, 2008, 07:30:21 pm »

I know it's possible to mod a servo so it revolves all the way round, like a ESC and motor, but is it possible to make one turn through 360 degrees but always return to the same place, when the stick is released?
I'm wondering if this could be done to the ones that control my Schottel drives so they turn 180 degrees, ineffect reversing the boat, but still return back to straight ahead.
With the present normal movement, if the drives are moved to full defection and the throttle is still forward the boar does go backwards, a bit more movement would be better still.

I have found no advantage in having 359% steering, past half way and you are in the same state as if you had reversed the throttles.

Right, I'll forget that idea. O0

The position sensing pot only has a track that covers 270 deg, so for having a stick-following servo this is a limit.  You can change the pot for a multi-turn type.  In this case (assuming the moulded stop is removed) you get your full rotation, and it will return to the same position when you let go the stick and it springs back to its home position.  Actually fitting it is another story.

cant you fit cogs on the servo and the object to be rotated ,and gear them to suit.
