Gogsamwe, what is the glazing made of and how did you fit it without it clouding? Love the little maps on the windows and the newspaper. Strange, I would not have looked twice if I'd seen this kind of kit in a shop but following your progress makes me realize what an interesting and detailed subject it can be.
Thanks Pointy
The Glazing material, is as supplied in the kit, I reckon its similar to photocopy acetate sheeting, its certainly very flexible, and easily cut with scissors.....unlike the harder plasti-card stuff one usually gets in a kit.
As for adhesive, I use a product called "weldbond"..... its a sort of strong PVA, but dries clear, and has good initial tack quality.
Obtainable at most good model shops tis about £3 a small bottle.
(There is also a specialist glazing glue that one can use, the plastic model aircraft guys use it, I cannot recall the name at the moment. When I remember, I shall post it here for you ! )
The kit ? well, as stated in my initial post of this thread, as experienced as I am.... I have always fancied a POF model ( note some elitists....as I have found out will try and correct this and call it POB =plank on bulkhead, But I prefer POF ......so there !
)
Wood is not my favourite material, ( specially when after all the effort, you are supposed to disguise that it IS wood! ) and believe me, getting a working 3d hull out of a flat pack kit, is a bit daunting...... but as I found, there are a lot of helpful people on the web, who are willing to advise at the parts one struggles with
Once you have a few models under your belt, I'd recommend the experience to anyone,watching it take shape does really give you a kick
The detailing, additions, come purely from research using the web, to death ! Just "adds" a little something extra to any model I feel, makes it personal, and elevates it above the normal out of the kit box look.
Hope this all helps, Pointy, and thanks to all for the encouragement
Cheers
Steve
