As twilight fell this evening, I couldnt resist trying some of the fitted lighting out  ;D

Captain Luigi has seen the light , and the pasengers can see where that open r/c bay is , right outside the doors  ;D

That boats looking realy fantastic! Your doing a wonderful job. I first saw this as a kit 4 or 5yrs ago unbuilt in the shop i used to work at, at the time i was not into boats, but boy i wish i had purchased it then.
Can i ask how much the kit is, and what are the instructions and quality of parts like?

Keep up the good work!

Many thanks for the kind words Voyager ;)

I got the kit from  Barry @ Westbournes...around £150 for the kit.
When completed, I shall do a review of it.

The parts are, well, all wood  ;D , Generally they are good quality, though those bulwarks & stern pieces have really given me some grief, as has some parts of the build.

My biggest mountain to climb, was the amount of effort it took to work that wood into a hull shape. ( Usually my kit hulls are preformed in Abs or G/f)

Thank Goodness for the web, & forums, I did get  a lot of very useful advice from people.

If you have built a few models before, then I think you could tackle it , definately not a "first timers" model.

Along the way I have picked up some more building skills, it does require different techniques to that I am used to,but some thought is really needed at certain stages of the build.

The instructions "assume" you are an experienced wooden ship modeller, ( I had NO experience with wood till this one !)
An experienced "wooden pro builder" COULD make an excellent top notch model of museum quality with this kit.

I shall, I am sure, be happy with the end result    ;D

I think my biggest "kick" is when I look back at the picture of the flat pack contents, and see how she is now, stand back and say " I made that"
It really does feel good :D

If you need any more info, just ask  ;)

Another few hours on my vappy tonight ;D

Work is concentrating on the bow area, where, as on the prototype, there are sliding bar gates, to prevent  passengers falling into the briny ;D

The kit caters for these quite nicely.

More detaling of the Vappy today  ;D
All seating is now in situ, though I have reduced the  number of rear seats to allow me better access to the rudder hatch.

Thank You !  :D

Probably  about 2 weeks or so.
The roof, I know, is gonna be a pig to do..... that said, I may be tempted to "float my boat"  roofless ( or should that be top less ?) before then...... just for test purposes, you understand  ;D

Its no good..... I just had to do it !! ;D

She has today, met water  under power for the very first time.

Before I tackle the roof parts , I needed to be darn confident that my woodwork (aka hull) was indeed water-tight !

I am pleased to say.... she was fabulous, even in cabriolet/topless fashion ..

The 385 motor is spot on for scale speed and she can get a good "wriggle on" with a nice bow wave too..

For full  detail , see the build on my MSW link.. but for now  a few tasty pics for you  ;D

She is gonna be a rather special boat I feel, and lovely to sail when illuminated on an evening sail...

Next up , will be the battle of the roof fitting !

Roofing Contractors have made a start  ;D

The fillet between the roof and side walls is of plasticard strips, and a wider strip on top, bevelled to fit the location...

Oh dear........ Looks like Marco is inspecting AGAIN !!  ;D

He's now taking a much closer look ! I hope these contractors tidy up soon, or they'll be sent packing ;D

Given some thought on how I should "occupy " Marco  ;D

Either getting knotted with his rope  ;)

or using his brand new scratch built broom, cleaning up after his messy passengers.. ;D

Steve ;)

... just to maybe make you feel better, I have what appears to be Marco's great uncle on board an older model boat I have (one of my son's actually - its a sort of converted Patrol Torpedo Boat..'ish - to which a few Tamiya figures were added for effect(!))  :D

As you can see, this Marco comes from the branch of the family that emigrated Stateside, but he's still a pain in the butt nevertheless (you can hopefully spot the family resemblance anyway?)  ;D

Your boat does you proud Steve - nice job!

;D Thanks Voyager, and Ambernblu, appreciate the comments.

Yes Marco, does indeed appear to be related to that " get yer head down" family doesn't he ?  ;D

I am thinking of promoting Marco...  after all his moaning, its not befitting from him to sweep the floor  ;)

Watch this space.....I have an idea bubble forming.......  ;D ouch....... Marco says..... "Will this mean ANOTHER painful operation ?"

Well after much thought, and discussion with my crew, Marco has been Promoted !

Following  an in depth Marine Engineers training course, I am pleased to announce he has qualified.. ;D
He has also "braved" yet another operation to lower his Mama Mia left arm too ;)

He is a much happier chappy now... probably wants a pay rise too... he hee

As a newly qualified engineer, he has a shiny new tool box too, and he's gonna have a go at fixing that sliding door !
