prop shaft joint
« on: March 10, 2008, 10:57:44 pm »

Hi all,
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for motor/ prop shaft joint.
I need the cv type ( like a cup and ball ) .
I know about the normal universal joints, but space and the fact that I would have to reposition motors etc makes these easier. They are fitted to a lot of rtr models, but I cannot seem to find them in a shop or on line. Maybe they have a certain name.

SHG do one that may be the type you are looking for - two plastic 'cups' that fit on motor and shaft and a 'dogs bone' that goes between as the flexible link.

Look at Huco which can be bought from RS Components.
http://www.huco.com/products.asp?cat=46
I have used their Universal Lateral coupling on 550's where space was a problem and also used their Electrodeposited Nickel Bellows with a 2½cc engine.

Alternative Supplier is Farnell

Thanks for the help, but the one I am looking for looks like a ball with two prongs on propshaft and a cup with two slots on the drive shaft.
I will try to get a picture.
