I know its a very flimsy hull, will you be adding any reinforcement to the interior, does your Gemini have any?

Gemini has just the reinforcement under the deck, ive had her now since 2004 and no issues with the hull, I may add a couple of stringers across the hull but to be honest, once the deck is down in place, the hull is actually quite stiff

Wish you lots of luck with the build, gave up on mine after I messed the painting up. Will you cut out the superstructure windows or use paint/stickers?

I am thinking of building another superstructure, though the sticker windows dont actually look that bad, Gemini had them before a repaint required black tape to be used, so they will get saved for when I re-do the superstructure, Im toying of a more modern design like that of Pacific Pintail

I wanted to have a more modern look as well, trouble is the hull needs a bulb bow  :'(
Don't worry about saving stickers, you can pick up a roll of Model Technics "Trimeline" and cut to any size, its really usefull stuff and waterproof, used it for all the hull portholes on the Prinz.

needs a bulb bow...

get a kinder surprise egg, remember the toy in the middle, and how it comes in a piece of plastic, heres an idea, using that and some styrene, along with filler too, turn that into the bow bulb.

"Nuclear Fleet"?? Would you like to share your ideas on propulsion? - and do they include anti-radiation suits for all at the pondsite?  :o  :o  :o

I need to get myself some new drills and some odds then I can install the running gear.

Nah, Barry. Ghost is having you on. When he goes on a night sail, his boats don't need lights, they just glow on their own!  {-)

Hello there Ghost!
I understand why you got yourself another Neptun, beautiful lines. Got my Neptun hull out for a run to test some new ESCs that I bought from your fine country, ESCs to go in my Smit London eventually. Perhaps your new build will get me inspired to finish off my Neptun some day. I will watch this thread with great intrest, good luck!

hama, I like what you did with the superstructure.  eventually I plan on changing the superstructure on mine later on, though for the first outing the original one is being built up.

what have you built it to? 1/160? or 1/200?

Wow! I'm impressed with your guesses, yes I built her to 1/160 ( N-scale ). What is the approximately scale of the original superstructure? I think the original is very nice looking too, looks like a ship from the 60īs.

The original superstructure used on Gemini has an approximate 1/87 (H.O.) scale, as used in Europe and America for model rail roads.  Thehorizontal rails match H.O. scale railings at the Knee (middle) and Hip (top) rail.

the figures used on her are HO scale, as are the vehicles on her display diarama

Thanks to RP6705 (Russ) for painting the hull whist, as his shed is warmer than my yard.

Progress today was installation of some of the hardware.

Good to see you've started on this one. Just a thought, will you put the superstructure aft or midships on this one? A simple mod if you like it.BTW, your Gemini looks great with the extra details you've added. She comes to life sort of.

thanks Hama.

Like Gemini, she's gonna be cab - aft and eventually I plan on putting a more angular structure there, similar to Celestia with features from Nord Icelandia.

all i have really done to Gemini is added some hatches, two antenna domes from sirmar and a radar from sirmar, along with some people from a train shop and drilled out freeing ports.  apart from that she's pretty much stock. (apart from lights) - Miranda wont have lights on her neptun structure, though MAY have them installed on the no2 structure

well I think I will try and solder the wires tomorrow, once that is done, the deck can be painted and installed.  then at the weekend, the speed controller will be aquired, though I may initially borrow the proboat 50 that is in Espirit D'Atlantique.
