Speak for yourselves, but I and I think quite a few other people are finding Bryan's "Nautical, Strange but True" thread both entertaining and informative. I'm sure his cable laying experience will enable him to locate his missing broadband connection and dredge it up for repairs.  :)

Hey, Bluebird - I didn't know you were a Tremeloes fan. Showing yer age now, old boy. (Har-har!)

Hands up all those who watched the clip and heard that wondrous 3-part harmony in the vocals. And just as good, there was no miming - they played it live. Now that's what you call talent (especially when compared to the soleless twaddle on TOTP these days.)

B.Y, hope you get your PC fixed soon. But maybe some good is to come out of your predicament. Maybe a new thread can be started -- something along the lines of 'Who is your fave all-time band when your PC goes blooie?'.
Mr. Bish' can start the ball rolling with his nomination of The Strawbs. I'll follow suite with..............

Oh, you don't get me, I'm part of the union
You don't get me, I'm part of the union
You don't get me, I'm part of the union
Until the day I die
Until the day I die

I still love the piano solo in that as well as the cracking beat behind it.  But, pop pickers, who remembers them as the "Strawberry Hill Boys".  Then you are really digging deep into the archives!

By the way PMK, sorry to dissapoint but TOTP got the axe some time ago.  Sad I know but I really gave up on it after they ditched Pans People!!

My all time favourite, Theme for Young Lovers by the Shadows. I used to listen to the original version and Wonderful Land while attempting to glue together my Veron Titan Tug....

Yeah, you know - back when we were talking guitars and bands and stuff. Dave Jaquet said Dave Hill is just all power chords, and you mentioned the Strawbs. Remember?
Here's another of theirs...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Pim0pRWN1U&feature=related

This is one of those hairs-standing-up-on-the-back-of-your-neck sort of tunes. One for smoking a nice a spliff and taking some flooze to the show. I was still a young gun when their Part of the Union was in the charts - and been wanting to see them live ever since.

Bunker', did I say TOTP? Man, I left that behind when The Go-Go girls went awol. I meant to say, Radio One.

I hope B.Y doesn't get too miffed for nicking his thread.

The version of Grace Darling on their "Greatest Hits Live" album is mindblowing!

Most of Justin Hayward's stuff has that effect. I've been trying to find a copy of his Moving Mountains solo album on CD which I've only got on vinyl. Only site I can find is one in the US quoting $89!!!! I got John Lodge's "Natural Avenue" the other day for a tenner...
