will it work
« on: March 24, 2008, 07:48:37 pm »

hi all.
I am rebuilding my ferry boat Celestine. One  feature I would like is for a truck to drive of the rear loading ramp.
I have a 40mhz set to control the boat. Some of the 1:87 RC trucks i haven been looking at run on 40mhz will I get a load of interference or not any ides welcome.

I was looking into this possibility with my Tamiya Trucks. I suppose if they were on different 40 MHz frequencies it would be allright.  This would only be like two boats on the water.

OK but. with my hand set there is a Crystal in which gives it a small band on the 40MHz band. These rtr trucks run on 40MHz and what i under stand they don't have a Crystal so  would this be a problem.

The problem with many of these RTR models is the receiver. If it does not have a crystal in it then it is a wide band receiver and any other transmitter in the band will stop it working properly. If you cannot get to the receiver then check the crystal in the transmitter. If it is marked 40.680MHz then it is likely to have a wide band receiver. Takes me back to the 1950 era when we all had to use this type of radio and only one model could be run at a time.

Your other question on 49MHz. Yes, it is a legal band for toys in the UK. If you can get a truck on this band then you should not have a problem running with your 40MHz ferry.
