1/32 scale wheelhouse fittings
« on: March 26, 2008, 07:58:55 pm »

Hi,
Anybody know where I can source 1/32 scale or there abouts modern wheelhouse interior fittings.
such as computer screens, phones etc. I Googled a company called hobby lobby in germany, but they only take a bank to bank transfer and the banks here want Ģ20 quid for the privilege.
Any fellow boaters know any other company's?

Regards

Just an odd thought. As far as computer screens and other almost flat items are concerned (e.g. dials etc), if you have a digital camera why not just photograph everything you think may be suitable and re-scale the pic to fit? as most electronics are either fitted into a pretty simple box or set in as part of a console this shouldn't be too difficult. I would have a browse through all the different manufacturers here and see what they have:

As Bryan says use of digital photography can be very usefull in creating a realistic bridge scene as well.  What specific ship are we talking about?

Further to the suggestion about using photographs of dials, screens etc......................

There is a site (much used by the flying boys) which expressly provides a wide range of dials and instrument panels which are intended to be used for this very purpose.

Sorry, but I have lost the reference. I guess if you search via Google for "cockpit instruments" etc. you may find something. Another possible source is one of the traders who does decals. Have a look in the Mayhem "Traders Directory".

for a basic layout of your wheelhouse try
www.fullempty.co.uk/gallery.htm

these could also be of use to fill in the gaps

Great find.  It appears that most of these products range from 1/20-1/50, so should fit most everything..........except our budgets :o.

If you want to backight your basic instruments, try Waldren model products available through Roll Models.  These are similar to Mike Grant decals, but are printed on clear plastic.  I will attempt to post a picture of the product and how it would appear with fiber optics as backights.
