I have relies in a lot of Australia, three of my ancestors went out there between 1855 and 1860 all landed in Port Adelaide but spread out from there.

I vaguely remember seeing model boats their as well - are they a part of your club and do you have a web site???

Martin13 you are so correct regarding modeling supplies, it can be difficult there are a couple of hobby shops one of them has been here for a long time and is not bad and if something has to be ordered in then it comes by camel, yes by camel you know that animal with four long legs  and one or two humps on its back  :)
same with the delivery of the bismarck (yes I am building that one) and that is delivered 8 days later than the rest of Australia BUT if you live up here long enough you get used to that .   patients is a virgue and I will stay in contact

Hi guys,

Not really to do with boats but it is something to do with water.

A new edible fish as just been introduced over here in the UK Baramundi (hope I have spelt that right). I have tried some and it is delicious.

Thing is it is being marketed as the Aussies favourite fish could you guys confirm or deny that.

Thanks Colin H.

Unusual, a fish the Aussies eat as apposed to a fish that eats Aussies. No wonder they like it. ;)

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the quick replies both very interesting, someone in marketing is actually telling the truth for a change.

Gee I did not know they grew that big. Over here they are produced by a company based in the New Forest in briny water. They are harvested at about 12" in the afternoon and delivered overnight for sale the next day to ensure freshness.

I first came across they in Sept last year and as I love all fish bought one filleted it and flash pan fried it in olive oil, (lovely chubbly) if I say so myself, It is now a regular on my table.

I wonder if you guys have a recipe for the barbie (I love barbies to) and would like to cook some friends an original recipe should summer ever come.

Yours in hope Colin H.

Just a little tid bit about the Baramundi, up until a certain age they are all the same sex (male from memory) and come time when they are at mature age for breeding they change sex to what ever is needed. Ain't Australia wonderful.

Mokumer,

Just re-read your post and realised your building the "Hachett Bismark"

You should think yourself lucky in that it only takes 8 days to get it up there. I was thinking of doing the build along side my 8 year old nephew but I cannot get the issues  within cooee of here. I even have troubles getting regular monthly issues of "Model Boats".

Your local newsagent should have them in stock as they all use Gordon and Gotch who are the aussie agents. I don't have any problems up here in Bendigo.
Picked up issue 33 today.

Jock,

The township of Kyneton is stil not Y2K compliant. Until recently, all shops closed midday on Saturday. The local Newsagent stocks a great variety of model trains and aircraft magazines and only 2 copies each month of Model Boats. >>:-( For the last three months , no boat magazines at all and I have to get them much closer to Melbourne - Should take out a subscription
