Hi to all,
This is just really to introduce myself, my name is Peter and I'm a retired design technology teacher. After taking early (health) retirement I thought well I'm going to be short of money, miserable and cold so I came to live in Thailand six years ago, now I'm just short of money and miserable, but seriously its a good place (in many ways) to end up in.
I thought recently I would resurrect my modelling efforts, but I have to say I'm finding it quite tough going. Firstly things have moved on somewhat since my last model (for those with memories as long as mine I bought a new! Taplin twin for it) so new techniques, materials etc to learn about and secondly it is just so difficult here to find basic materials of good quality, ply balsa etc. All the young modellers here and hence the shops are into cars, trucks and fast boats all plastic bodies of course.
Anyway enough whingeing, my current projects (well I have the plans) are for a side wheeler with twin geared down electric motor drives and I think I will have one of those nice mixer steering units (thank you Dave) I'm also going to have a crack at a Baby Bootlegger, maybe with something a bit fierce in the motor department.
Well that's about me for the moment, I;m sure that as time goes on I will snit all sorts of hags and come running here for assistance, so please be gentle with me !!!!!!
All the very best to everyone,
Peter
