Beamer ( no name yet)
« on: January 22, 2025, 10:05:09 am »

Hi There ,this is the 2nd model on the go  of the 66 inch Beamer .the plans for this are actually drawn by James. A .Pottinger of a 1:35 scale 25.75 inch beamer "Sea-Lady" in the November 2000  Model Boat Magazine . I changed the bow area on it and it was increased to 1:16 scale . The stem ,keel & deadwood area are of Colonial teak  2.4 Kg, the frames are of Beech, also installed some brass dovetail plates.cheers  :-))

I'll certainly follow this one. I know I've still got the free plan hidden away and when it's time to make a start on it I'll be referring to your build - thanks for sharing B.B. :-))

Hi there, This section of photo's all the frames up and installing the stringers they are 12 x 6 mm beech , had to steam the forward section of the stringers as she is fairly beefy there .  Cheers  :-))

Wow! What a monster. Could be fun lifting that out of the water.

Hi there,,I don't think i will be able to get her in the Tuscon ,definitely won't be able to put the hull  in the trolley in the car ??.
With these photo's ,showing the first couple of bulbous bow blocks, I won't be attaching these till I plank her. Ran the garbad planks then started on the ribbing, probably steamed about 85 % of the ribs. Cheers   :-)) ......

Hi there, all ribbed up, with the nose cone I used 3 layers of 1.5 mm ply ( should be strong enough  O0 ) then ran a couple planks around deck level and around her middle , once I got to this stage ,have left it as it is, have gone back onto the shrimp boat build, will finish her off before resuming this build...Cheers.. :-))

Great work. Now I am curious, is the bulbous bow going to be almost flat?
