What a wife
« on: June 07, 2008, 02:36:58 am »

Not only does my wife have her own boats, four of them, but I get to put a few in the house on display
at the moment there are these two in the lounge room, one on the cabinet is a Riva Aquarama,
the other is my Bluenose, in the dining room we also have a model of the following, Titanic,
Oriana, and a fishing boat, as you can gather there is never any problems with me buying any boats
or boat gear, sorry guys I guess I am one of the lucky ones, How does everyone else get on with this,
type of thing.............. O0

Like you, I don't have any problems with women. She has her house and I have mine...no problems at all.

Cheers,

I don't have a problem with her indoors, I left her for a weekend whilst I went to Merstham with the caravan, the following week I took her to Wicksteed for a few hours before going on to visit relations, a 300 mile round trip that day. Then I had her support at Alfold when she ran the frequency control with my daughter and a friend for me whilst I ran the show. Tomorrow I could well be with the Chantry Club at Bluewater, if I do go the good lady will come with me and I may give her Lady Godiva (£5) to spend in the shops. As for the house, well boat related things all over the place, she rarely complains, what a woman. O0

Same for me. She never complains, no matter how much I overspend or how long I am in the workroom...She even brings lunch out to me so as not to distract me too much.

A few years ago she built her own boat, a Caldercraft Garnock...Wouldn't swap her for anything..

Mine is silently tolerant, though occasionally teases about the amount of 'play time' and toys I have!

Only one boat in the house - Pen Duick

She is very good really!

Same here, I have no complaints from my wife, she helps out at club activities.
never complains at the time I spend in my workshops ( 1 in spare bedroom and 1 in the shed)
Boats all over the house, garage, etc.some not started some to restore and some part built.
mine you we do work together all day so she may be glad of the space when in shed.

Alan no wonder inflation is rampant. Haven't you heard that there's a credit crunch going on? I fear you have set the bar too high.  :)

All of you who have received stuff from us like a ricochet  have ample evidence of Mrs Jacket's worth (aka Liz, The Amazing Corrugated Woman). She takes orders, makes boxes, types out the advice notes, packs the goods and goes to the Post Office every day, keeps the books, provides me with a stock figure of any or all items; deals with the bank, the insurance, the cardnet people, the ruddy lot............in short this business wouldn't work without her.
She does, however, have lousy taste in husbands.................. :embarrassed:

My good lady recently took up the hobby of quilting - Spent a large sum of money on a new sewing machine, a new hydraulic chair, new desk and one spare bedroom converted to her play area..

She felt so guilty on what she spent on HER new hobby , that she then handed me a great wad of money.

Just placed an order with Fleetscale for HMS Campbeltown and HMS Vanguard

                                                           ;) ;) ;) WHAT A WOMAN ;) ;) ;)

My wife never moans, complains, says I can't spend money on boats, tells me I have to stay in, or not to look at other women! O0
(mind you we have been divorced for four years now!) {-)

I would hazard a guess that I have to rely on my wife for a hell of a lot more than most of you chaps.
Not only does she hold down a full time managerial job in the NHS (one of the managers that actually works) but she has to do most things for me including lugging my boats about. She also supplies me with the funds for my hobby and also makes sure I get to the lake as often as possible.
I would not change her for the world. I don't know how she copes and stays so cheerful.

On Saturdays I don't do anything  "exactly"............it's all rather vague e.g. I'm stocking up my work-trays today; listening to the cricket and sampling the latest vintage of Lidl's best Juniper Juice. The rest of the time I just talk rubbish and solder things together!

Hi,

I am very lucky as my wife never moans about what I spend on my hobby. She is always there to lend a helping hand if things get difficult. In fact encourages me with my hobby.

If I had to make a choice, I would put her before my hobby any day, but that would never happen.

I am sure there are others who are as lucky as I am.

I should have been down Halford's today - trying to get some anti-slippy-slidey for my Tx.
I've got three sisters. One is a pain in the gregory. Instead of Halford's the pain-in-the-gregory sister had me doing some finishing touches to her kitchen. In fact, she's had me there all week doing those finishing touches to her kitchen.
I love her bits but I wouldn't want her for a wife, because 1) it's incestuous and 2) she nags a lot.
So while I'm working I'm thinking about all these stories of you lot and your wives. I'm not married, so in a way I guess I'm envious. Every one of you, you all talk about your women in good ways. I been married. I liked it. But I can't make up my mind if I want a wife, or the single life where I can do what I couldn't do if I were married.
On the other paw, there are bonuses to being married that a single bloke doesn't have. You lot, for instance. I mean, look at Bazil Footski... look at FLJ... look at Bluebird... Tug Kenny........ everyone smiling, all looking chuffed.
Ergo, there must be some truth in the old adage that behind every good bloke is a good woman.

How about we see some photos of these wondrous wives?

I'll start the ball rolling. It's not a photo of any of my floozies, or even a photo of my nagging sister.
Not toooo bad for a non carpenter, eh?

PMK discussing his sister:

I love her bits

Never in the history of MBM has the word "to" been so desperately needed in a sentence....

I have more of a "working arrangement" with Mrs Steve than a lot of you chaps.

She thinks that my hobbies ( the boats, the fish, the fishing, the shooting etc etc etc ) are mostly "silly" but gives a sort of tacit support - i.e - she only gets in a grump when I make a mess - such as dripping epoxy into the new carpet, which I learned today can make wives very grumpy indeed, or when I leave the hood of the big tank in the living room, and my idiot cat, who has spent too much time with next doors dog, and now chases sticks and has no fear of water, jumps in the tank after a fish.  ( "oh my GOD!!! It'll drown!!! Get him out! Get him out!!! - Mrs Steve then tries to drag a soaking wet cat out of a fish tank - cat goes mental, claws Mrs Steve to bits -  with me sitting in the corner being no use at all as I'm crying with laughter so hard I come very close to needing to change my underwear )

On the flip side, she does a lot of things which make no sense to me at all, such as collecting weird sculptures of cats, tidying ( and I mean, obsessive OCD 2 in the morning hoovering under the sofa sort of tidying) and giving sizable portions of her income to badger charitys when we all know that the best thing to do for a badger would be to shoot it.

We both support each other in our crazy collection of interests. It shouldn't work. But it does.

Heheheee! I see what you mean. The omission of one diddly 'to' throws a whole new meaning.
Man, you are sharp, I'll say that much. Almost as sharp as FLJ himself.

Cat', them twigs on the stove... you're right. My bozo sis' spends most all her time with her head burried in them poncy magazines. Her idea of a kitchen is something that looks like... well, like the photo above. I'll bet my bottom dollar that her new swanky kitchen doesn't improve her cooking any.
She would probably be doing herself a favour if she were to take a leaf from Roy's wife (hello there, good lady - nice to meet you), for not only does she look the business, she also looks the sort who knows how to cook.
