It's interesting to see what the perception was at the time the film was made of how the Bismarck looked.  The model is quite inacurate in a couple of areas but it was probably the best that was known at the time.

I think four and a half grand is a bit ambitious though!

I saw it the other day, it looked quite rough. I didn't realise it was the film model though. This "emporium" opened a few months back and is packed with nautical memorabilia and models of the type you see advertised on Ebay although most of them aren't very good. Certainly worth dropping in for a browse if you are in the area though. Prices are on the high side too.

You've had a nose around then Bob?!

I didn't look at many of the prices - nothing I would have bought anyway!

The SWA are sailing over "Meet the Navy" weekend so we had a look at the Mast Pond for sailing and had a coffee in the cafe after laughing our way through the shop!!
We had our coffee looking at that model!!

I think there is a little errh umm poetic licence her.
the model that was actually used in the sailing sequences in the film was in fact nearly 30 ( thirty) feet long. an article with full photos of her appeared in Model Boats magazine( or Marine Modelling ) some years back.
so where this one at 7' long appeared, i don't know.
the model can be found in a google search, but it's ina round about way, and i havev't done it in a long while so have no links.
but i doubt whether this model ever saw the inside of a film studio in her life.
