My £1 RIB Lifeboat
« on: July 06, 2008, 05:17:05 pm »

Hi All,  On my recent visit to the Northern model boat show at Doncaster. I purchased a vacuum formed moulding for a rigid inflatable boat, it measures 180mm x 85mm (not sure what scale it is),
It really broke the bank costing me an astronomical £1-00.
My plan is to try and turn it into some sort of in-shore lifeboat, loosely based on the picture below.

So here is what I srarted off with

The two hull sections glued together

        Filler applied

After sanding, the first primer coat

        Second sanding,,more primer

        Main colour applied

More to follow. O0   Bob

Looking good Bob.

Can't help you too much on the decals but you can get the bow emblems from: HERE
Might be a starting point at least?

Excuse the double posting but I also found a couple of bits on that well known auction site:

HERE
There are a few other bits available on there as well, which should see you sorted.

Thanks Barrie, this could well be the source of an inflatable I'll need for a small tug I've started, based on a MMM Nangee hull.
Do you think it is 1/32 scale ?

I got the £1 one last year and its a bit big for Nangee, sort of fills the stern deck, perhaps as a deck cargo?. the smaller one fits on the deck in front of the wheel house, as a dingy, which is were mine is going. O0

Here's my 10p bargin at a boot sale, a playmobil toy, chopped of all the bits that took the strange playmobil figures (and they are strange) can of paint, and some of those nice wooden coffee stirrers that we all pinch from motorway service stations for the bottom boards. LOA 8 in

Here's the £1 one on the deck of Nangee (AKA Strowger).

The 50p one is on the cabin roof. (just placed there at the moment, not painted or anything, only got it yesterday)

Thanks SBP and FTF for these pictures. The smaller edition will do nicely, I think
