Superstructure & Access
« on: July 08, 2008, 10:34:26 pm »

I was staring at the blue print of my Marie Felling, with thoughts of access to remove the battery to charge it.
The mast is fixed to the super structure and there are cables that are fixed to the hull, which means that removal of the structure is a bit tricky due to this - the two pieces will always be connected by the cables.
Is this normal?

Gary :)

hi. gary. when i built mine as a review model for the mags years ago, i found how much give there was in the mast so that all the rigging could be detached from the bulwarks by using small hooks linked into the rigging wires. i made the hooks from very fine brass wire attached to the bottom of each turn buckle. i have a copy of the review, so if you want a copy, send me your email address and i'll scan it and send to you. neil

An alternative Gary is to use some "modellers license" and either resite the cables onto the superstructure, or leave them off....Just a thought...

on my models i use fine black elastic for the lines and tiny hooks, which allows you to disconnec tthe ropes/ lines/ wire and access the internals of the model.... and the elastic means they never look saggy when reconnected as the pull taught...

Thanks Neil, Barry and Guy.

I think I'll try the elastic and hooks first as this seems best.  I think I have some suitable elastic my Mom used to use when knitting, a trip into the loft I think.
Thanks Neil I will send my email.
