RFAs in Falmouth.

The photo is one of two, believed, RFA vessels seen recently in Falmouth docks.  I'm sure some of our members will recognise them.

Thanks Richard.  I could only see the 'Bay' part of the name.  There was another one docked some distance astern of the one in the photo and I believe that was also something 'Bay'.

I believe you will see many more RFAs in Falmouth for the forseeable future. They have negotiated a contract with the RFA (M0D) to "look after" the RFA Fleet. I have read the "bald" version of the idea as published in the RFA House Magazine (Gunline) and it seems to make sense on many fronts, mainly financial, but with central control. Good for Falmouth, not so good for other areas. Now all we need is a better way of getting from London (or anywhere else) to Falmouth!.

I visited Largs Bay at the Portsmouth "Meet Your Navy" event in July and spoke to the Chief Officer. She is a hugely capable ship, not far off being on a par with the RN assault ships. I can post some on board pictures if anyone is interested.

There was a cracking shot of L3008 passing QE2 at Southampton on tonight's 6pm BBC news.

 Well worth looking out for a second time on the 10pm news.  Also on BBC24 news tonight at around eight pm send off time :-)) :-)).
