I know it sounds daft, but the kit I've always wanted to build is the Robbie Dollie (www.geedee-modelshop.com/detail.asp?fldLowStocks=2&ProductID=1787&SubCategoryID=88).

I've no idea why either as it's not an exciting boat. Not expensive either, but there has always been another kit in the pile ahead of it. It's strange the sort of models that "float our boats".

I spoke to someone at 'Mayhem at Wicksteed' a few weeks back, he said it was a cracking little model to put together!

My ultimate ambition is to build a 1:48 "Royal Sovereign".

At just over 8 feet long it will have to be made with two bolt-together hull sections and a totally removable superstructure, but what a sight it will be - one day.....

Shut up Martin  {-) I don't need another model boat kit. (repeat until I start to believe it). I bought a Fantail Launch and steam engine kit a couple of days ago. Another one for the pile !

this is the boat I would like to model above all others, and hopefully will be starting on her within a month. got the keel and frames cut out already.
she was the most famous of RNLB's, the 51' Barnett "stromness class" lifeboat from Ballycotton which took part in the 1936 rescue of the Daunt Rock Lightship crew, when she was on call for over 72 hours with 49 hours actually standing by the drifting lightship in hurricane force winds for the whole of the 3 days of the duration of the rescue.
A magnificent fete and well deserved gold for the coxs'n and silver for the rest of the crew.........a truly magnificent boat to model as well..hope I do her proud.
