Marine VHF Channels - Southampton VTS

If anyone is interested, you can now hear Southampton VTS - the Port Control - on:

http://azul.streamguys.com/richardson1

The site is excelent with up to date ship positions on an AIS map. Gives a whole new meaning to the idea of 'shipping movements'!

The only other live scanner feeds I have are for the major dutch ports. These are on:

http://members.home.nl/krid/livescanner.html

http://www.scannernet.nl/AIS%20Google%20Online%20DSC.html

They do speak in En glish and you'l have to fiddle your way around but the first one is good if you get Ijmuiden and the second does a broad scan of a few frequencies across the area.

Yes, i think I know where you are going with it (wheelhouse chatter.....?) but how you do it is beyond me apart from have a mictrophone and tape recorder near to your speaker.....?

Had the same idea myself... I have a friend who uses this if you are on Windows:

Says it is very good - and free. Looks good certainly.

If you are on Linux then there's plenty about and, quite naturally, its all free and far better :D

Thanks for the recorder information. I've since found a program called "audio recorder for free" which will let me record in either mp3 or .wav format.

For everyone's info, I sometimes find I cannot connect to the streaming audio but with a little patience eventually get a connection.
