another newb with a nmm hull
« on: October 09, 2008, 11:33:01 am »

Hi there
i recently bought the nmm pt109 hull and am after some advice.
after a bit of looking around i am hankering after something different and not torpedo boatish if possible.
do any of you know if any other countries with a gilbert and sullivan style generals have remodelled these boats into something else. if not i will go down the pt boat route

my first post was going to be about motorising this boat with 3 prop shafts but after a bit of research on this site and a call to action that problem is now solved

thanks for any help and info

pobolycwm,

Top of the head thought:-
PT109 was an early Elco
Early Elcos were effectively BPB MTB hulls made under agreement

So anything that am MTB was, or could have been, converted to would be reasonably in order :D

I'm almost sure that Puttaniland were presented one which was transformed into a presidential launch and Gin palace for the Generalissississimo.  (Leading seaman Goldstein refers to it as a gunboat)

Alternately it could convert to an Italian MAS with a escape raft for the pilot on the stern (brave man)

Hi Jamie

I'm surprised that no one's asked about your nickname by now!   However they are spelling it right  :-)  I'd be interested to hear some of the pronunciations :(   I know the origin of it (at least I assume I do!) but I'm intrigued by what your connection is with Cwmderi.

Cheers
