HMS Superb
« on: November 06, 2008, 11:25:50 am »

Hi, I need some help  {:-{

In my visits in the Mayhen site in the shows area (Deans Marine 2006 ) I saw this image that shows the HMS Superb side by side with HMS Dreadnouoght

Does any one knows more information about this boat  that seems to use the Deans Marine Dreadnouoght Hull.

Thanks

You could just about use the same hull to make the St. Vincent class, too: cut it and extend it by 1.25 inches.

That colour scheme! Is it legit?

About the colors I really donīt know, all images that I can find  are gray and cannot find any  reference to colors.

Maybe someone with more information can help and also help me with some information about this model and who build it.

Hi chaps,
The Paint work could be correct for HMS SUPERB.

My reason for this is as this was from the same period that an artist called Norman Wilkinson convinced the admiralty that dazzle or disruptive camouflage could be effective in breaking up the outline and features of naval ships.

This was intended to make recognition and range finding more difficult to attacking naval forces.

Some of the colours used were very odd, consisting of pale blues, pink,green and black and grey splinter patterns.

Hope this is of some help

I'm not sure to what extent the Grand Fleet ships were painted with disruptive patterns but there is a very interesting illustrated article here:
