Howes do the Ripmax range that are suppossed to fit any make of 27mhz radio.

Being new to this, how do you actuall change the crystals, is it the bit that pulls out of the receiver in the boat or do you have to do anything with the handset?

Yep there's one to go in each, matched pair one marked rx for the receiver t'other marked tx for the transmitter. simple plug in jobbies. Tug

How do I check to see if its 27mhz or 40 mhz?

look on the crystal tag it will say 27.xxx mhz or 40.xxx mhz , also if its 27mhz it will be colour coded and if its 40mhz it may have a 2 digit number.
Has your transmitter got a pennant on the arial with a number on it , mine has the number 52 which denotes that i am using 40.685mhz.

Ah yes, it says 1on a purpleish? square then 26.995

so there you have it your on 27mhz , must be two set ups . for cheap xtals i bought a set for micro racers (cars) from my local model shop when it was open , a set of 5 xtals on the odd freq (two colour tabs) i think they were £5 for all 5 sets.
