Found in Rubbish
« on: January 26, 2009, 09:33:18 am »

Hi folks
I've not been on for a while but am still modeling.  %%
A friend of my parents found this in the rubbish and knowing I am building a model has asked me for help.
Firstly we would love to identify the model in the pics.
He intends to refit with motors as a RC model.
Superstructure is a bit shabby apparently but I have not seen it. (Sorry no pics yet)
Hull is plastic and it would appear to be a kit model of some sort.
I can sort electrics out but would love to here from anyone who knows of this model or the boat it is based on.
Any help would be greatfully received.

It would help to see the superstructure, but it looks like a Billings "Samson".
Try googling Billings Samson and compare the pics.

It's not a Samson, but I think it's a Billings 'North Star' trawler - or something like that. I've got the hull of one in the back of the shed somewhere.

It's not on the current catalogue, so I guess it's been discontinued.

I think you both could be right!
Billing used the same hull for the Samson & Polar Trawlers, not sure about the 'North Star'.

Hi fullboat, that'll teach you to live in Adelaide  {-) {-) If it gets too hot here, I just go for a swim in the lake, 200 metres away, or walk to the beach, 450 metres away  ok2 :-)) It's only been around the 30 mark here.

Fullboat,

Try "Heat Stress". Worked for me - 2 days off. Dizziness and throwing up are the symptoms, although in my case it could have been the VB {-) {-) %% %) :-))

In south eastern Idaho this morning it is 14f with a high today of 20f and two new inches of snow on the ground (for about two feet total).  R/C snow mobiles are gaining popularity around here each winter with global warming! LOL
